Job description

Director of Software & Services (40 hours) (m/f/x)

A strategic thinker, driven by technology and customer-oriented service, with a keen eye for innovation and process optimization. Someone who can work with our team and partners to achieve great ambitions and shape our technical and operational future.

About our organisation

Cineville is a rapidly growing and entrepreneurial film club. Our mission is clear: with the Cineville pass, we offer unlimited access to the most inspiring and unforgettable films from all over the world. In collaboration with the Cineville Association, comprising over 70 cinemas and more than 80,000 pass holders in the Netherlands, and with our partner subscriptions in Belgium and very recently in Germany, we have grown into a popular, international film club. But our ambitions go further. Several other organizations, such as Podiumpas and film subscription nonstop kino in Austria, also use our services and self-developed software.

Under the leadership of a new, multi-member management team, in addition to further growth in the Netherlands and Europe, the focus in the coming period at the management and executive level will be on the further development of our own software and the professionalization of our marketing and communication.

Cineville is an accessible organization that stands for creativity, innovation, and diversity. In our small organization of approximately 30 employees, we contribute to this on a daily basis with great enthusiasm and passion, each taking their own responsibility.

Job requirements

About this role

As the new Director of Software & Services, you will lead a team responsible for the technological backbone and customer service of Cineville. Your focus will be on further developing our proprietary software platforms and improving the service to our partners and pass holders. This requires a combination of strategic insight, technical knowledge, and a hands-on mentality. You will manage the technical teams and collaborate with other directors to optimize our processes and systems.

Our organization is at an exciting crossroads. While our team is finalizing the transition to a new multi-tenant platform, the need for prioritization and product vision remains high. As Director of Software & Services, you will develop a roadmap that enables both stability and growth. Your task is to structure the technical infrastructure and services in a future-proof manner, with an eye on new market opportunities domestically and abroad. In addition, you will play a key role in relationship management with cinemas, partners, and other stakeholders, maintaining a healthy balance between internal stability and ambitious external growth.

Who are we looking for?

Our new director is a strategic thinker and experienced leader who can effectively balance technical and operational responsibilities. Someone with a vision for long-term product development and a customer-oriented approach.

We are looking for a leader who can build on the existing foundation of Cineville by guiding the team into the next phase of growth and improvement. This means working on more structure where needed, without losing the informal and creative culture of our organization. You see opportunities to optimize our internal processes and leverage new commercial possibilities, while maintaining a balance between innovation and our unique, community-driven approach.

  • Strategic and operational strength: You translate market insights and business plans into a product vision and roadmap, focusing on scalability and resolving technical debt;
  • Technically proficient: You understand complex technical challenges and can translate them into efficient, pragmatic, and scalable solutions, with specific experience in scaling and stabilizing software;
  • Communicative and connective: You foster collaboration and accountability while guiding less experienced team members in their technical development;
  • Result-oriented and decisive: You make choices that promote both short-term stability and long-term growth, paying attention to technical priorities, even when they are less popular;
  • Customer-oriented and innovative: You are open to new markets and translate customer needs into innovative and scalable solutions, with an eye for improvements and efficiency in the operational processes of cinemas.

What do we have to offer?

We don’t just ask for something from you, we also have a lot to offer. To start with, a salary between €5,769 and €8,077 gross per month for a 40-hour workweek, plus an annual 8% holiday allowance. The amount will be adjusted based on your experience and potential, but we are also open to discussing growth goals. Full-time is ideal, but part-time work is also negotiable, as long as you can be flexible in urgent matters. Along with your salary, there is an attractive package of secondary benefits.

We aim to be a good employer, so you can count on:

  • Time and budget for your personal development;
  • An informal working atmosphere and a safe environment;
  • 25 vacation days, with extra days off between Christmas and New Year;
  • Flexible parental leave and a sustainably invested pension;
  • The opportunity to work from home occasionally and a budget to make your home workspace as comfortable as possible;
  • A pleasant workplace in a beautiful office in the center of Amsterdam, including a free organic, vegetarian lunch, unlimited fruit, snacks, and regular fun drinks with the team;
  • And of course, a Cineville pass that allows you to go to the movies as often as you like.

We believe in the power of diverse voices, including in our staff, and are therefore looking for people with a variety of backgrounds and experiences to build a strong team together. Want more information about our organization? Visit cineville.nl.
